IMS GA200NT Nanotech Membrane Shower Screen (Gaggia)

verified · 21 August 2026

Fits these machines

The Nanoquartz-coated version of IMS’s Gaggia Classic shower screen. Same Ø55mm body, same M5 centre, same 200 µm photo-etched membrane as the GA200IM — with a quartz coating on top of it.

IMS names both in the same breath: the Classic Pro “and the newer EVO” take the GA series, and “Our GA200IM (Integrated Membrane) or GA200NT (Nanotech coated) are the gold standard upgrades.” So this is a choice between two screens that fit identically, not a fitment question.

So which one should you buy?

The honest answer is that the coating changes maintenance, not extraction. IMS describes the effect as hydrorepellent: water leaves the surface as “a shower of tiny drops that are uniformly distributed over the whole surface”, and the coating’s high adherence means spent pucks release and residue wipes off.

On a Gaggia Classic specifically that is worth more than it sounds. The Classic’s group runs hot and its three-way solenoid pulls backwards through the screen at the end of every shot, so this is a machine where oils genuinely do bake on. If you are the kind of owner who backflushes weekly, the plain IM is fine and cheaper. If you are not, the coating buys back some of that neglect.

One caveat IMS states for its NT range on other brand pages: avoid running aggressive cafiza-type powders through it every single day, because harsh chemicals will eventually wear the quartz down. Water backflushing and a wipe are what it is designed around.

Fitment

We cross-reference only the Classic Pro, because that is the model IMS names and the one in this database. The EVO is named by IMS too but has no entry here yet.

Note the diameter: Ø55mm, even though the Gaggia portafilter is 58mm. That is not a contradiction — the screen seats in the group, the portafilter does not. Group parts are keyed by grouphead here for exactly that reason. See groupheads explained and why 58mm isn’t one standard.
