The shower screen is the perforated disc in the roof of the group that the
water passes through on its way to the puck. De’Longhi’s stock item is a simple
dispersion screen; IMS’s DL200IM replaces it with a photo-etched
integrated membrane — one solid piece of stainless steel with the
perforations cut inside its thickness to a 200 µm filtering power.
Specs from IMS: 50.5mm external, 49.5mm internal, 9mm wall height, and a
5.3mm central hole.
Why the single-piece construction matters
Most screens are a mesh layered over a backing plate. Coffee oils work into the
gap between the layers, and no amount of purging gets them out — which is why
an old screen makes everything taste faintly stale. A photo-etched membrane has
no layers to trap anything, so IMS’s claim that the surface is “totally smooth
and completely free from rough spots or layers where dirt and coffee oils can
deposit” is a structural fact rather than marketing.
The practical benefit on a small machine is more even pre-infusion. A 51mm
basket is a narrow column of coffee, so water that arrives unevenly has very
little depth in which to even itself out before it exits.
Fitment
This is a group part — it fits the grouphead, not the portafilter — so it is
keyed by group here rather than by portafilter size.
The chain is manufacturer-primary at both ends. IMS states its DL series is
what fits De’Longhi (“we offer specialized shower screens (DL series) that
replace the stock dispersion screen”), and that “most De’Longhi home machines
… use a 51mm group head”, naming the Dedica and La Specialista lines.
De’Longhi’s own DLSC085 page states “51mm DIAMETER” and compatibility with “all
De’Longhi La Specialista and De’Longhi Dedica Maestro models”.
A limit worth stating: IMS names the Dedica EC680/EC685/EC885 explicitly and
refers to the Dedica and La Specialista lines generally, but does not enumerate
every model. The cross-reference here is to the
Dedica Maestro Plus, which De’Longhi
itself places in that 51mm family. If you own a different De’Longhi, check that
yours is a 51mm group before buying.
Pair it with the 51mm puck screen, which
sits on the other side of the puck and protects this screen from grounds.
Also fits the same machines
Other items confirmed to fit machines this one fits — useful if you're kitting out a single setup. The count is how many of those machines overlap; nothing here is a new fitment claim.
