## Notes

La Pavoni's own bottomless (naked) filter holder for its lever machines —
**"Fascino"**, sold in black-and-chrome as SKU LPABOTBC01. Removing the spouts
exposes the underside of the basket, so channelling, spritzing and uneven
extraction become visible instead of being hidden by the spouts.

## The 54mm vs 52mm question

This is the detail that confuses almost everyone shopping for a La Pavoni
bottomless, so it is worth being precise about what each number measures.

La Pavoni's accessory page describes the Fascino as a "bottomless Black-Chrome
portafilter for lever coffee machines, **54mm diameter**". La Pavoni's machine
pages for the Europiccola Lusso, Professional Lusso, Stradivari Lusso and
Esperto Abile all state "Filter holder internal diameter (with filter):
**52 mm**".

Both figures come from La Pavoni, and they are not in conflict — they are
measurements of different things. The 52mm figure is explicitly the holder's
**internal** diameter *with the filter in place*, i.e. the basket seat. The
54mm figure is the accessory's own stated diameter. La Pavoni does not publish
the relationship between the two, so we do not assert one: what we can say
firsthand is that La Pavoni ships this holder with a machine it specifies at
52mm internally, which is the fitment fact you actually need.

This is the same trap the [58mm standard](/guides/58mm-is-not-one-standard/)
sets, in miniature: a single number on a portafilter can describe the tamper
seat, the basket body, or the holder itself, and buying on the number alone is
how people end up with a part that does not seat.

## What it fits

Because a portafilter locks into the **grouphead**, not into a portafilter
size, this entry is keyed by group rather than by a millimetre figure — it is
listed against the La Pavoni lever group, and deliberately not filed under the
54mm standard, which is Breville's proprietary format and has nothing to do
with La Pavoni.

The chain is entirely from La Pavoni's own pages: the Fascino page states it is
for "lever coffee machines"; the Esperto Abile page lists "Standard and Fascino
filter holders" among a 52mm lever machine's accessories; and the Europiccola,
Professional and Stradivari Lusso pages each state "Type: Lever Espresso coffee
machine" with the same 52mm internal figure.

**Note on baskets:** the Fascino ships as a holder. If you are pairing it with
a precision basket, IMS assigns post-millennium La Pavoni to its B60 series —
see the [IMS B60 competition basket](/baskets/ims-b60-competition-2-cup-la-pavoni/),
whose Ø52mm internal body matches La Pavoni's own figure.

Vintage pre-millennium La Pavoni levers are a different format and are not
covered here.

  - Official La Pavoni product page, read firsthand 2026-08-10. Product name verbatim: 'Filter Holder Fascino Black-Chrome Lever Coffee Machine', SKU 'LPABOTBC01'. Specifications verbatim: Colour 'Black and Chrome', Product Family 'Kit for Lever Coffee Machine', Accessory Type 'Filter holder Fascino Lever machines', Diameter '54' mm, Net Weight '0.235 kg'. The page states the machine class ('lever coffee machines') but does not name individual models.
  - Official La Pavoni product page for the Esperto Abile, read firsthand 2026-08-10. This is the page that connects the accessory to the machines: it states 'Type: Lever Espresso coffee machine' and 'Filter holder internal diameter (with filter) : 52 mm', and lists the machine's included accessories verbatim as 'Standard and Fascino filter holders'. So La Pavoni itself ships the Fascino with a lever machine whose stated filter-holder internal diameter is 52 mm.

  - Official La Pavoni product page for the Professional Lusso, read firsthand 2026-08-10. States verbatim 'Type: Lever Espresso coffee machine' and 'Filter holder internal diameter (with filter) : 52 mm' — establishing that the Professional Lusso falls in the 'lever coffee machines' class the Fascino page names. The Europiccola Lusso page carries the identical wording, read firsthand the same day.
