Specs: **56.4mm external**, 55.4mm internal, 5mm wall, 7mm central hole, 200 µm filtration — dimensionally identical at the mounting face to the uncoated [MA200IM](/parts/ims-ma200im-shower-screen-la-marzocco/). ## Why the coated one, on this machine in particular A La Marzocco saturated group holds a large thermal mass at temperature more or less permanently. That is the machine's great strength, and it is also why the screen is the component that suffers: a hot brass roof plus coffee oils is how you get a polymerised film that no amount of rinsing shifts. IMS's stated mechanism for the quartz coating is **hydrorepellency** — water leaves as fine, evenly distributed droplets rather than sheeting — with the side effect that oils and spent grounds have nothing to adhere to.
