## Specifications

- **Part type:** Shower screen
- **Fits group:** Gaggia Classic group
- **Brand:** IMS

## Fits these machines

- Gaggia Classic Pro (E24) (58mm portafilter) — https://espressofit.com/machines/gaggia-classic-pro/

## Notes

The shower screen is the perforated disc water passes through on its way to the
puck, and it fits by **grouphead, not portafilter size** — see
[groupheads explained](/guides/groupheads/). This is IMS's **GA200IM**, the
Ø55mm screen for the Gaggia Classic group.

"IM" is IMS's **Integrated Membrane**: rather than a mesh sitting on a
dispersion plate, the whole screen is a single photo-etched stainless part with
200µm micro-perforations made *inside its thickness*. IMS's stated advantages
are better distribution, longer life and easier cleaning — one smooth part with
no seams for grounds to lodge in. On a Gaggia it replaces both the stock mesh
and the dispersion plate.

IMS names the fitment directly: the Gaggia Classic Pro "and the newer EVO" take
the GA series, with the GA200IM or the Nanotech-coated GA200NT as the upgrade
options. We cross-reference only the Classic Pro, since that is the model IMS
names and the one in this database.

**Note the diameter carefully:** the screen is Ø55mm even though the Gaggia
portafilter is 58mm. That is normal — the screen seats in the group, not the
portafilter, which is exactly why group parts are keyed by grouphead here.

Described as a 'single filtering part in stainless steel' made by 'photo-etching: special micro perforations are made inside the thickness of the shower'. The page's brand-compatibility list names Gaggia (alongside Maro, Mr. Cafè and Sunbeam).

  - Official IMS Filtri Gaggia compatibility page, read firsthand 2026-07-26. States verbatim: 'The Gaggia Classic Pro (and the newer EVO) uses the GA series shower screens. Our GA200IM (Integrated Membrane) or GA200NT (Nanotech coated) are the gold standard upgrades. They replace the stock mesh and dispersion plate to provide a significantly more uniform water flow across the coffee puck.'
