## Specifications

- **Part type:** Tamper
- **Size standard:** 51 mm
- **Brand:** De'Longhi

## Fits these machines

- De'Longhi Dedica Maestro Plus (EC950M) (51mm portafilter) — https://espressofit.com/machines/delonghi-dedica-maestro-plus/

## Notes

De'Longhi's own tamper for its manual espresso machines — a **51mm** stainless
steel base with a matte black wooden handle, weighted so the compression comes
from the tamper rather than from you leaning on it.

The reason it is worth buying the maker's own rather than guessing: De'Longhi
states this one "perfectly fits **all** the De'Longhi Manual Espresso Machine
portafilters", which is the same blanket wording its
[DLSC085 bottomless portafilter](/parts/delonghi-dlsc085-bottomless-portafilter/)
page uses when it gives "51mm DIAMETER" for the format. The two pages agree,
which is more than can be said for most manufacturers' accessory documentation.

## Why 51mm matters here

51mm is De'Longhi's own format, and it is **not** interchangeable with anything
else on this site — not the 52mm La Pavoni levers, not the 54mm Breville line,
and certainly not 58mm. The gap between 51 and 52mm sounds trivial written down
and is decisive in the hand. See
[why 58mm isn't one standard](/guides/58mm-is-not-one-standard/) for the general
version of this problem, and [portafilter sizes explained](/guides/portafilter-sizes/)
for how the formats compare.

De'Longhi notes the tamper also suits other brands built to the same diameter,
naming Smeg and Casabrews. We do not carry those machines, so they are not
cross-referenced here — but it is the manufacturer's own statement, and worth
knowing if you own one.

**Coverage note:** the 51mm standard here currently rests on the Dedica Maestro
Plus. La Specialista and the classic Dedica Style are named on De'Longhi's
accessory pages but their own machine pages do not print a portafilter
diameter, so they are not yet listed as separate entries.
