## Notes

Breville's own **58mm portafilter assembly** — the replacement handle-and-basket
holder for its 58mm machines, as distinct from the
[54mm assembly](/parts/breville-54mm-portafilter/) that fits the Barista and
Bambino line.

## Which Brevilles this is for

Breville sells two portafilter formats and they do not interchange. This is the
58mm one: the Oracle line and the Dual Boiler. If you have a Barista Express,
Bambino, Pro or Touch, you need the 54mm assembly instead — see
[Breville 54mm vs 58mm](/guides/breville-54mm-vs-58mm/), which is the single
most common fitment mistake on this brand.

Breville names only **the Oracle Jet (BES985)** on the part page itself, in its
"Works With" block. The other four machines listed below are cross-referenced on
the strength of their own Breville product pages, each of which states a 58mm
portafilter. That is the same basis used for Breville's other 58mm parts here.

## A portafilter is not just a diameter

Worth saying plainly, because it is the one place this database cannot give you
a complete answer. A basket is decided by diameter; a **portafilter** also has to
twist and lock into the group, which depends on the ear or lug spacing — and
essentially no manufacturer publishes that figure, Breville included.

Within one maker's own line that is not usually a problem: Breville's 58mm
machines share a group, and Breville sells one 58mm assembly for them. Across
makers it very much is, which is why you should not assume this fits a
non-Breville 58mm machine just because the number matches. See
[why "58mm" isn't one standard](/guides/58mm-is-not-one-standard/).

## Sources

  - Official Breville (US) replacement-part page, read firsthand 2026-08-26. Product name verbatim: 'Portafilter Assembly 58mm', described as 'Portafilter Assembly 58mm for selected Breville Espresso Machines.' The page's own 'Works With' block names one model explicitly — 'the Oracle® Jet - BES985'. Breville does not enumerate the rest on the part page, so the remaining cross-references below come from each machine's own official product page, all of which state a 58mm portafilter.
  - Official Dual Boiler BES920 page, read firsthand 2026-07-13: states a '58mm' portafilter, which is the basis for cross-referencing this assembly to the Dual Boiler alongside the Oracle line.
