# Parts that don’t exist > Does VST make a 54mm basket? Does IMS make group gaskets? The espresso parts people search for that aren’t made — answered with manufacturer quotes. This one answers **no** — and the reason it exists is that “no” is surprisingly hard to find. Search for a part that isn’t made and you will not get a page saying so; you will get a shop selling you something adjacent, because nobody with stock to move has a reason to write down that the thing you asked for does not exist. Two different kinds of “no” are collected below, and the difference matters: - **The part isn’t made.** The manufacturer says so, or its complete published range demonstrably doesn’t contain it. - **The part exists but nobody has published what it fits.** We could guess. We don’t — see [how we verify](https://espressofit.com/methodology/). ## VST does not make a 54mm basket This is the most-searched of them, usually by Breville owners who have read that VST baskets are the precision upgrade and want one for a Barista Express. VST answers it directly on its own store page, and the wording leaves no room: > “VST Filters DO NOT fit 49, 53 or 54mm portafilters.” That is VST ruling out three formats at once, its own emphasis. VST builds for **58mm** only — the range runs 7g to 25g, all of it [58mm](https://espressofit.com/standards/58mm/). **What to use instead on a 54mm machine:** IMS’s B62.5 series is the precision line for that format, and IMS names the machines directly — “a dedicated line for 54mm group heads found in the Barista Express, Bambino, Pro, and Touch models.” See the [54mm standard](https://espressofit.com/standards/54mm/) and [why 58mm baskets don’t fit Breville](https://espressofit.com/guides/breville-54mm-vs-58mm/). ## IMS does not make group gaskets A reasonable assumption — IMS makes the baskets and the shower screens, so the gasket that sits between them ought to be in the catalogue too. It isn’t. IMS’s complete accessories range, read in full, is **three tools**: a Basket Remover and two Shower Removers. Gaskets appear on that page only as the thing the tools take out — a Shower Remover is described as designed “to safely unseat shower screens and group gaskets without damaging delicate brass components.” Removing gaskets, not supplying them. **What to use instead:** group gaskets are one of the few parts where the machine manufacturer is usually the best source, because the gasket is cut to that group. IMS makes **two** shower screens in its La Pavoni (PA) series — `PA200IM52` at Ø52mm external, Ø47mm internal, and `PA200IM54` at Ø54mm external, Ø49mm internal, both with a 14mm wall. Both product pages are live. What IMS does not publish anywhere is **which one fits which La Pavoni**. Its own La Pavoni page recommends “an IMS precision shower screen (Integrated Membrane)” without naming either code. So we list neither, and no La Pavoni machine here cross-references a shower screen. There is an obvious-looking shortcut, and it is a trap worth naming. IMS states that post-millennium La Pavoni machines “require a 51mm basket and tamper” and pre-millennium ones 49mm — and the PA200IM54 happens to have a Ø49mm internal diameter. Those two 49s are not the same measurement. One is a basket bore, the other is a hole in a screen that seats in the group. Lining them up would be numerology, not sourcing. IMS’s shower code guide assigns **Rancilio to two different series** — `RA` (“Rancilio/Promac”) and `SR` (“Nuova Simonelli/Rancilio”). Its Rancilio page enthusiastically recommends fitting one — “Upgrading to an IMS precision shower screen significantly softens the water impact” — but never says which series a Silvia takes. A shower screen that is 1–2mm out does not seat, so a coin-flip between two series is not a recommendation we are willing to publish. If IMS names a series for a specific Rancilio model, it goes in the same day. ## Why we publish this at all Because an unanswered question costs you more than a wrong answer feels like it should. If nothing tells you VST doesn’t make a 54mm basket, you keep looking — and eventually you buy something from a listing that is vaguer than it should be, and find out at the machine. The same rule governs this page as every other one here: each “no” above is quoted from a manufacturer page we read firsthand and dated, exactly as a “yes” would be.
