## Notes

The **deepest** basket in IMS's Nanotech-coated 54mm line at 28mm, rated 18–22 g
for a dark roast and up to 23 g for a light one. That is a 58mm-sized dose in a
54mm basket, and it is a specialist choice rather than a default.

## Who this is actually for

Two situations justify it. The first is a
[bottomless portafilter](/parts/type/portafilters/) on a 54mm machine, where you
have swapped the stock spouted holder and want to run the doses a 58mm setup
would. The second is light-roast recipes, where the same volume of coffee weighs
less and a 22 mm basket runs out of room before you run out of dose.

If neither applies, the [22mm](/baskets/ims-b62-competition-2-cup-54mm-h22-nanotech/)
or [24mm](/baskets/ims-b62-competition-2-cup-54mm-h24-nanotech/) will fill
properly at the dose you are already pulling. A deep basket run at a small dose
is worse than a shallow one, not better: the puck sits low with a large void
above it, and that void is where the water goes first.

## The coating

'Anti-adherent, easy to clean, antibacterial' in IMS's words — a quartz surface
over the standard B62.5 geometry: Ø62.5mm border, Ø54mm body, ridgeless, 583
hexagonal holes of 0.30mm across a Ø44mm perforated area. IMS publishes the
coated and uncoated versions on a shared capacity row (`B62.52TH28E/NT`), so the
coating buys cleaning, not extraction.
