## Notes

The **deep** one in IMS's B60 line — 29mm against the
[25mm](/baskets/ims-b60-competition-2-cup-la-pavoni/), and the higher-dose
choice for a La Pavoni lever. IMS rates it **16.5–18 g** for a dark roast rising
to **20–23 g** for a light one, where the 25mm tops out around 20 g.

The B60 family is only two baskets deep, so this is a genuine either/or:

| Code | Height | Dark | Medium | Light |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| [B602TH25E](/baskets/ims-b60-competition-2-cup-la-pavoni/) | 25mm | 14/16 g | 15.5/18.5 g | 18/20 g |
| **B602TH29E** | 29mm | 16.5/18 g | 18/20.5 g | 20/23 g |

## Think about lever travel before you buy the deep one

On a pump machine a taller basket is mostly a dose decision. On a **manual
lever** it is also a mechanical one: the piston has a fixed stroke, and a
deeper basket with a higher puck leaves less room above the coffee for the
water charge. If you already run the 25mm near its ceiling and find the lever
bottoming out or the group hard to lock, the 29mm will make that worse rather
than better.

IMS does not publish a lever-travel caveat, so this is framed as a
consideration rather than a fitment claim — the fitment is exactly as IMS
states it.

## Geometry

Ø60mm border, **Ø52mm internal body**, ridgeless, and 583 of IMS's E-pattern
holes at 0.30mm with a conical cross-section over a Ø44mm perforated area, for
a Ø51mm tamper.

That Ø52mm internal body matches La Pavoni's own stated filter-holder internal
diameter, and the Ø51mm tamper matches
[La Pavoni's own tamper](/parts/la-pavoni-lever-tamper-51mm/) — the three
figures cohere, and the entry for that tamper explains why they differ.

Vintage **pre-millennium** La Pavoni is a different format on IMS's B58 series
and is not cross-referenced here.

  - Official IMS Filtri product page ('B602TH29E'), read firsthand 2026-08-16. Specs verbatim: 'Border: Ø 60 mm', 'Body: Ø 52 mm Internal', 'Height: 29 mm', 'Tamper: Ø 51 mm', 'Ridge: Ridgeless', '583 E holes optimized for B60 series' over a 'Perforated Area: Ø 44 mm', 'Hole Diameter: 0.30 mm (Circular with Conical cross section)'. Average capacity '16.5/18 gr'. The page's capacity table covers the whole B60 family — 'B602TH25E 25 mm 14/16 gr 15.5/18.5 gr 18/20 gr' and 'B602TH29E 29 mm 16.5/18 gr 18/20.5 gr 20/23 gr' — i.e. two heights only. IMS states its testing basis verbatim: 'All tests about the capacity of the filters were made using: Dark roasted (80/20 blend), Medium roasted (100% Arabica), Light roasted (Ethiopia single origin).'

  - Official IMS Competition Series catalogue, read firsthand 2026-07-13. States verbatim: 'B60 (BORDER Ø 60 mm) HI BREW (H4C BARISTA), LA PAVONI POST MILLENNIUM, LELIT (Kate).' and separately 'B58 (BORDER Ø 58 mm) LA PAVONI PRE MILLENNIUM, OLYMPIA' — the assignment that puts current La Pavoni levers on the B60 series and keeps pre-2000 machines off it.
