## Dual wall is the forgiving one

**Dual wall** is Breville's term for pressurized. A second wall with a small
exit orifice holds pressure behind the puck, so crema forms almost regardless of
grind, dose or tamp. That is the point: it makes pre-ground supermarket coffee
produce something crema-topped, and it makes a bad grinder survivable.

The trade is that the pressure is being manufactured by a hole rather than by
the coffee, so you lose most of the control a
[single wall](/baskets/breville-58mm-single-wall-1-cup/) gives you. In a
**1-cup** that matters less than usual — small doses are the hardest thing to
get right non-pressurized — which makes this a sensible basket to keep even if
you normally pull single wall. See

## Fitment

Breville's page says "for multiple Breville Espresso Machines" and features the
Dual Boiler (BES920) in its Works With block. The machines listed below are the
58mm Brevilles, each cross-referenced from its own product page stating a 58mm
portafilter. Not for the 54mm line — see
